General History Of Best Glove

Best gloves is a fifty year old company that specializes in designing, and manufacturing gloves for a variety of purposes, ranging from industrial to medical professions. Due to its innovative culture, Best holds a number of patents in glove technology and has been behind a number of breakthroughs made in the gloves industry. There are a number of types of gloves that best produces. Among them are general purpose such as kitchen gloves. Chemical resistant like those used in the chemicals industry, cut resistant which are used in industries like furniture making, and disposable gloves like those used in surgery. All in all best gloves produces an eclectic variety of gloves. A wholly owned subsidiary of the Tillotson Company, best gloves was founded in 1951 by Neil Tillotson and Roy Mann sr. in Menlo, Georgia. With manufacturing facilities located in three countries namely the US, Canada and Guatemala and sales around the world, Best has come a long way from its humble beginnings (Best Manufacturing Company, 2004).

Best initially started its gloves line with chore, hot-mill and leather faced gloves and then later on expanded in to the industrial market with textured and polymer coated gloves. It was with these lines that best started incorporating innovation and research into its business practices giving it an edge over rivals in the gloves industry. For example, neoprene gloves had been around for some time. And there was little variation in the gloves. It was Best that came with the idea of wrinkled neoprene gloves that made them suitable for industrial uses. Best was able to identify this need through customer research. These gloves were named Nitty-Gritty.

Next came Best Gloves foray into the medical gloves market. In the 1980s, the AIDS epidemic had created a need for latex gloves that were required in the testing of patients. This was made important since AIDS is transmitted through the transfer of body fluids. As soon as the AIDS hype was born, the demand for latex gloves followed suit. The market was flooded with cheaply made latex gloves from all over the world. However Best recognized a need for an alternative to latex that could provide better protection at a slightly higher price. The main protection that was sought was puncture protection since latex gloves are not that strong. Best came up with the all Nitrile gloves (N-DEX) in 1991 after years of research that could be used as an alternative. However, physicians found little incentive in switching to the N-DEX gloves at that time. Nevertheless, N-DEX found a healthy demand in the industrial sector which saved it from being labeled as a failure. However its foray into the medical profession could not be stalled for long. Soon enough, allergies to latex began to emerge and thus Best was soon to capitalize on this emergency with the N-DEX gloves. Currently N-DEX AND Nitrile are two Best Gloves leading pioneering products.

In 2005, Best signed an agreement with SHOWA, Japans largest gloves manufacturer. This agreement gave Best the exclusive rights to distribute gloves made by SHOWA in the US. The line of gloves distributed by Best is the polyurethane and anti-static hand protection gloves. These lines combines with Best Gloves own lines N-DEX, Clean-DEX and cut-resistant specialty gloves creating the most comprehensive line of hand protection available in North America gave it lethal edge over competitors.

More about Nitrile gloves made at Best Gloves:

They contain no latex proteins and offer excellent resistance to punctures and tears. The point is that Nitrile gloves can be made more resistant to rubber by more than 300%. This gives them highly tear and puncture resistant characteristics. And hence they can be used more suitably for industrial purposes Latex gloves have a large element of friction involved with them. This makes wearing them quite a task and it may take more than a moment for a person who's wearing them for the first time. Also it can cause hindrances in the time starved area of emergency surgeries. Also Nitrile gloves are more chemically inert than their natural counter parts. This makes them a lot more solvent resistant and robust for prolonged industrial use. Its chemically inert nature also makes them safer for people who are prone to latex allergies. The high quality standards at Best ensure that most of the gloves attain the 3rd level quality standards that is medical grade (Crystal, 2007).

More about Best Gloves N-DEX gloves:

N-DEX is another groundbreaking category of Bests gloves that a complete experience to the wearer including better touch sensitivities and tear/puncture resistance. The soft textures of the surface of these gloves which are a result of the soft Nitrile formation add to their popularity. Now there is a complete family of disposable, 100%-soft-nitrile N-DEX gloves. Unlike other gloves all N-DEX are manufactured in the US and are free from any rubber proteins which are the main causative agents of allergies in latex. All gloves are available in a number of forms one of which is totally powder free and hence completely disposable. Furthermore, N-DEX gloves meet all the regulatory requirements of the US government and that gives them high legal standards. N-DEX also has a unique feature that provides better resistance to muscle fatigue. Its special elastic features support the hands and help them get back in shape. Also its better grip ensures that not a large force is required to hold objects
